“Designing Perfection, Shaping Space”

The competition seeks to uncover forward-thinking design concepts where aesthetics, functionality, and user experience are seamlessly and thoughtfully integrated into a cohesive whole.

Amid the dynamic pace of life and the rapid urban growth of major cities such as Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and Da Nang, the aspiration for refined, well-rounded living spaces is becoming increasingly prominent.

In response to this evolving demand, the Ho Chi Minh City Design Association (VDAS) and the VMARK Design Award, in collaboration with Panasonic Electric Works Vietnam (PEWVN), proudly present the design competition “Designing Perfection, Shaping Space.” The competition seeks to discover and celebrate holistic design solutions that seamlessly integrate aesthetics and functionality—creating living environments that are not only visually compelling, but also practical, sustainable, and enriching to everyday life.

Through this theme, the competition highlights the vital role of often unseen yet essential foundations—electricity, air, and lighting—as the true keys to creating safe, comfortable, and sustainable living environments. Building on this philosophy, Panasonic Electric Works Vietnam introduces three integrated solutions:

Electric Solution, Powering Your Lifestyle

Air Quality Solution, Enhance Everyday Wellness

Lighting Solution, Shaping Emotional Experiences

The competition offers an open and inspiring platform for architects, young designers, and students nationwide. It provides a unique opportunity for participants to experiment with and apply cutting-edge technological solutions to real-life residential design concepts.

The program is also supported and closely coordinated with universities across the country, strengthening academic foundations while bringing the competition’s message closer to the younger generation.

More than just an award, outstanding works will be widely recognized across media platforms—helping to amplify perspectives on sustainable design and inspiring the ongoing journey of “Designing Perfection, Shaping Space.”

Eligibility:

The competition is open to Vietnamese citizens aged 18 and above, including architects, interior designers (from freelance and semi-professional to professional), as well as students and trainees nationwide.

Participants may register individually or as a team. There is no limit on the number of entries per individual or team. For team submissions, an authorization letter must be provided to designate one representative who will take primary responsibility for the entry.

Design Brief:

Participants are required to design one residential space module (such as a villa, townhouse, or apartment), comprising a minimum of three functional areas. These may include a living room, dining area, kitchen, bedroom, workspace, common area, garden, balcony, or green spaces.

Entries should embody the concept of “Designing Perfection, Shaping Space,” where the space is conceived as a harmonious whole that balances aesthetics, functionality, and living experience.

The design must present a well-organized layout that ensures visual appeal while effectively meeting practical living and usage needs. In addition, the proposal should integrate core foundational systems—Electricity, Air, and Lighting—to enhance quality of life, optimize performance, and allow for flexibility in adapting to future changes.

Participants are encouraged to incorporate solution categories from Panasonic Electric Works Vietnam, including:

Lighting Solution, Shaping Emotional Experiences

Participants are free to choose their preferred design style (modern, minimalist, contemporary, traditional, etc.), provided that the overall design maintains aesthetic coherence, spatial harmony, and operational efficiency.

The design may be either a completely new concept or a renovation of an existing space, as long as it meets all technical and content requirements set by the Organizing Committee.

Competition Regulations:

There is no limit to the number of entries submitted by each individual or team.

Participants must register via the official “Register Now” link of the program.

Upon successful registration, a submission link will be automatically sent to the participant’s email. After completing the submission, participants will receive a confirmation email from the Organizing Committee, and all valid entries will be forwarded to the Jury Panel.

All submissions must be original works created by the participants, ensuring full intellectual property ownership and no unauthorized use of third-party content. The Organizing Committee is not responsible for any related disputes. In case of violations, the Organizing Committee reserves the right to disqualify entries and revoke any awarded prizes.

In all matters related to the competition, the decision of the Organizing Committee shall be final.

The Top 8 outstanding entries will be officially featured in VDAS Magazine, celebrating talented individuals and teams in the field of home design while amplifying innovative creative values across the design community.

● The awards are evaluated by a Jury Panel comprising reputable experts from the fields of interior design, architecture, as well as representatives from businesses and design education institutions.

● All submitted entries will be assessed by the Jury Panel based on the official criteria, compliance with the Award regulations, and overall design quality.

● All votes and decisions made by the Jury Panel are final.

Assess the ability to communicate design ideas through drawings, visuals, or layouts that are clear, understandable, and logical.

Submission Requirements

Design Statement & Concept Presentation:

Participants are required to submit a design statement that clearly presents the overall concept, along with illustrations of the design process. The proposal should demonstrate how the “Designing Perfection, Shaping Space” approach is applied to meet the homeowner’s needs.

Solution Requirements – Each submission must include:

Electric Solution, Powering Your Lifestyle
Incorporate at least one Panasonic electrical device line (switches or sockets). The design should reflect thoughtful placement based on two key criteria: convenience and aesthetics, while accommodating both current usage and future adaptability. Participants may refer to the product categories and catalogue for support visuals and information for images and specifications.

Air Quality Solution, Enhance Everyday Wellness
Utilize at least two devices to demonstrate ventilation (air intake and exhaust) and air circulation (continuous airflow), ensuring a fresh and healthy indoor environment. The solution must be clearly explained within the design presentation. Product categories and catalogue for support visuals and information references are encouraged.

Lighting Solution, Shaping Emotional Experiences
The design must feature at least three types of lighting within the same space (e.g., direct, indirect, focused, accent lighting) to meet functional needs and elevate the emotional experience. Participants may refer to the product categories and catalogue for support visuals and information for supporting visuals and information.

Recommendation for additional points:

Integration of smart devices such as functional switches/sockets, sensors, or timer switches to enhance convenience and user experience, with clear explanations of their intended use.

Application of air treatment devices such as air purifiers, nanoeX technology, or heating/ventilation systems to improve air quality, along with justification for their selection.

Clear presentation of the functions and advantages of Panasonic lighting solutions within the design.

Profile & Portfolio:

For Individuals: Provide basic personal information (full name, year of birth, professional field) and a portfolio link (e.g., Behance, personal website, if available).

For Organizations/Teams: Provide a general introduction, area of expertise, and official website (if available).

Design Submission Package: The submission must comprehensively present the design proposal and applied solutions, including:

Overall floor plan layout of the design proposal

A 3D render image set with multiple perspectives (minimum of 8 images), clearly showcasing the space and applied solutions

Image files in JPG/PNG/Bitmap format, maximum 2MB per file, sized at 1000 x 1500 pixels, compressed and submitted as a RAR or ZIP file

A 360-degree video (optional but encouraged) to support the Jury in evaluating the space more intuitively

Note: Participants selected for the Top 50 will be required to submit additional materials, including:

Original design files (e.g., 3ds Max, SketchUp, AutoCAD, etc.)

High-resolution files for communication, promotion, and printing purposes

A written declaration confirming authorship and intellectual property rights of the submitted work

Submission Period: March 18, 2026 – May 20, 2026

To inspire and support participants, a nationwide workshop series titled “Designing Perfection, Shaping Space” will be organized. These sessions will share design thinking approaches alongside practical, safe, and sustainable solutions in Electricity – Air – Lighting, with the participation of industry experts. (This is an optional support activity; participants may join based on their individual needs.)
